June is the official month of PTSD Awareness - Learn about K9s For Warriors and How They Help
ZipRazor is committed to supporting charitable organizations supporting Veterans, military and their families. This month we would like to feature K9s For Warriors who we have recently donated profits from our razor sales to! As many of you may know June is PTSD Awareness month.
Based on data from the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs, National Center for PTSD, the missions, combat, and life-threatening experiences while serving in our country have resulted in the following statistics.
- Operations Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Enduring Freedom (OEF): About 11-20 out of every 100 Veterans (or between 11-20%) who served in OIF or OEF have PTSD in a given year.
- Gulf War (Desert Storm): About 12 out of every 100 Gulf War Veterans (or 12%) have PTSD in a given year.
- Vietnam War: About 15 out of every 100 Vietnam Veterans (or 15%) were currently diagnosed with PTSD at the time of the most recent study in the late 1980s, the National Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Study (NVVRS). It is estimated that about 30 out of every 100 (or 30%) of Vietnam Veterans have had PTSD in their lifetime.
K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our Warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11.
Their goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. We are the nation's largest provider of service dogs for disabled American veterans.
